Two friends - Kamesh Mahadevan and Rajesh Singh writer, directors and producers live in the lavish Shanti Mansion. Behind the walls of Shanti Mansion lie dark secrets of the past lives of both the friends. Plot [ ] Every character has a past and has something hidden, it all gets revealed when Shanti, an aspiring hoping to write the biographies of Kamesh and Raj, arrives.

The duo they only approve of a movie when it is appreciated by the of the house and tell of how they went from. Then are shown the family members, Kamesh's eldest son Ramesh is mentally challenged. Younger son Somesh is a failing director struggling over the script which gets rejected even by his own father. His wife Ayesha is the daughter of a film producer whose career was ruined by the duo. His daughter Nidhi was revealed to be the illegitimate daughter of Kamesh. Raj's wife took to Ashrams and Sadhus, while his youngest son Nihal returns with an American white friend Michelle, who accidentally revealed that she is his wife. His elder daughter Maya is drawn to by her mother's absence, while his elder son Rohan is forced to marry a model Sasha after she threatens to come out to the press.

All this is witnessed by Shanti who too has a shady past, because one of them is her real father. Shanti's mother was a working during the construction of Shanti Mansion who was by both Kamesh and Raj.

I saw the series when i was a small kid still i remember this series and love it because it was fantastic.Just loved every episode of it.It had such brilliant performances and Rajat Kapur as the Bengali detective was brilliant. The cases were very different from the regular murder4money stuffs. Byomkesh Bakshi came at a time when the satellite channels were not filling the satellite slots with dumb serials and that time Doordarshan had some decent shows on air and this one was the best of the lot.It was a low budget detective show but it had everything -mour,action,brain teasers and most importantly a script(which is missing in 90% of the shows these days) Greatest ever detective series to hit Indian TV.
