Ahci Driver Windows 7 64 Bit 8,7/10 4039 votes

I'm not sure if i understand what you are trying to say here, but i assume you want this driver: You can also download a newer version of the driver directly from Intel. I would recommend that you download and install System Update 4.0 which will give a list of all the drivers for your system. Then you can select or remove those you want / don't want and system update will download and install. It's a lot easier than downloading / installing each driver manually. You also have to make sure SATA is set to AHCI in BIOS if you want AHCI instead of compatibility mode. If the driver install sucessfully the problem where the drive is not detected is not related to the wrong driver.

The system uses a default AHCI driver using this procedure. The system would not allow me to install the AMD AHCI drivers before switching because the hardware could not be found. After switching I was able to load the AMD AHCI drivers without problem and the system did require another reboot to use the AMD drivers. Windows 7 cannot install 64 bit AMD RAID driver. But have a feeling that when the bios is changed From ahci -> raid the drive will not boot - But as you said it is.

In that case you could describe in more details what kind of drive which is not detected and what you are trying to do so maybe someone can help you out. Are you trying to install Windows 7 x64 and the HDD is not detected? If that is the case are you using a Lenovo Recovery CD/DVD or a standard Windows installation DVD? Karta rossii shop nyc. Is SATA set to AHCI or compatibility mode in BIOS? Windows 7 should install fine with the drivers included with Windows 7 in any case.

There is no need to load a 3part driver during install when installing Windows 7 on the W510. Alright, I didnt update since i found out a little more.

Im trying to install windows 7 64bit. It kept telling me it needed device drivers. So i tried the lenovo ones and they kept saying no new devices found. Tried newest intel. Got the same thing. I just realized that the drives are showing up but windows 7 setup wont let me pick them.

If i goto browse to look for my flash drive with the sata drivers i can see all 3 partitions on the regular hard drive. Ive also tried another brand new WDC black edition drive and it does the exact same thing. You have any ideas for me? 3d modelj elektrodvigatelj Well i need some more information.

- Are you using a standard Windows 7 DVD installation media or the Lenovo recovery CD/DVD? If you are using a Lenovo recovery CD/DVD are you sure it's for the W510? - Do you have the BIOS set to compatibility mode or AHCI? - I assume you insert the DVD and boot from the DVD to start the installation?

Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit

Do Windows ask for a driver during installation? This is not normal. Windows should have the needed drivers included for the W510 to be able to find the HDD and perform the installation. Using a standard windows 7 pro 64bit oem cd. Ive used it on other models the w510 just seems to have a issue with it. Lenovo wont sell me a recovery dvd for 64bit because it came with 32bit. Why they did a 4gb laptop with 32bit is beyond me.

But 64bit with the same specs cost around $40-60 more everywhere and was backordered. I know the keys will interchange so im just going to do a load myself to save the money. Bios is setup to AHCI.

Currently i am booting to a external usb but i dont see that being the issue as the internal drive is DOA. I should be getting another tomorow or thursday from lenovo. Windows asks for a driver but when i goto browse for the driver i can clearly see hard drive partitions where i would like to load it. My windows 7 cd works on any other computer i try it on without issue. Including a T400. So if your internal HDD is DOA you are actually trying to install Windows to a USD HDD connected to the computer?
